Starting in 2022, the Government of Canada will invest more than $63.8 million into the Flood Hazard Identification and Mapping Program. Funding will be provided until March 2024. The program is designed to assist provinces and territories in :
- completing flood hazard maps
- making flood hazard information accessible; and
- informing decisions around flood mitigation, climate change adaptation, and resilience building
Provincial and territorial governments may collaborate with, and redistrubute funds to: municipal or other local governments, public and private sector bodies, Indigenous communities, international non-government organizations or any combination of the preceeding groups.
