Through the National Adaptation Strategy, the Government of Canada is investing $164.2 million into the Flood Hazard Identification and Mapping Program (FHIMP). Funding will be provided until March 2024.
The program is designed to assist provinces and territories with climate adaptation actions specific to flooding such as:
- completing flood hazard maps
- making flood hazard information accessible
- informing decisions around flood mitigation and resilience building
Provincial and territorial governments may collaborate with municpalities, Indigenous communities, and private sector bodies, among others.
