To protect a coastal ecosystem facing threats from marine vessel traffic and the spread of the invasive European green crab, a 5-year restoration project rebuilt marine habitats through eelgrass revegetation and artificial reef installation. Over five years, approximately 375 metric tonnes of green crab were removed, 57 artificial reefs were deployed, 10 hectares of eelgrass were restored across five sites, and there is ongoing monitoring to assess vegetation recovery and habitat effectiveness.
