As the Labrador Climate Services Specialist, Tara engages communities, Indigenous governments, and municipalities to support them with climate change adaptation initiatives. This includes efforts to make climate data more accessible, hosting events and working groups, and upholding traditional ways of knowing, all in the context of the region of Labrador. Tara is from Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Labrador and is a mixed Inuk, working in the territory of the Labrador Inuit and Innu Nation. She holds a Bachelor of Environmental Studies from the University of Waterloo and is currently pursuing a Master’s of Social and Ecological Sustainability from the same institution. Tara is particularly interested in how to support community mobilization in the face of climate change, and upholding traditional ecological knowledge across Labrador’s Indigenous groups. Tara speaks English and French.
