Existing armour stone along a roadway was undersized, allowing wave damage and requiring repairs every three to five years. Life-cycle cost and risk analyses showed that a phased reconstruction of the revetment (armour stone) to withstand higher water levels and larger waves was the most cost-effective solution over a 30-year period.
