The Climate Change and Health Adaptation Program from Indigenous Services Canada is split into two streams:
- Climate Change and Health Adaptation Program North, (ongoing); and
- Climate Change and Health Adaptation Program for First Nations South of 60°N (annual, currently closed).
Both streams are open to First Nations and Inuit communities and organizations, and non-governmental and volunteer organizations.
Impacts of extreme weather events, emergency preparedness, and traditional food security and access to country food are just some examples of previously supported projects. Through this program First Nations and Inuit communities are assisted in identifying, assessing and adapting to the health impacts on climate change.
The deadline for applications for the First Nations South of 60°N stream was September 20, 2024. The North stream has an ongoing intake process.
