The Indigenous Guardians program funds projects that:

  • support Indigenous rights and conservation activities
  • maintain sustainable economies, and
  • continue connections between natural landscapes and Indigenous cultures.

Examples of eligible projects, include but are not limited to:

  • land and water data collection and monitoring
  • conservation, land use, and land relationship planning, and
  • gathering and application of Indigenous laws, teaching and knowledge.

These projects and others support Indigenous communities and their traditional ecological knowledge as they adapt to a changing climate.
