Since 2003, the Sussex Area Community Foundation Inc. (SACFI) has been providing grants to Sussex communities to:

• permanently enrich their quality of life;
• build on community assets; and,
• meet community needs

Various types of projects are supported, including those supporting the environment, health, and social programs. Eligible projects should meet set criteria including:

• building citizen capacities for leadership and participation
• contributing to the development of healthy citizens and communities
• supporting community stewardship of natural resources and the environment
• connecting multiple sectors of the community

These criteria help build community resiliency, an essential asset in climate change adaptation approaches. Funding is only available to registered charities, municipalities, and government. 

Applications open in March and September of each year. The next deadline is September 10th, 2025, at 12pm Atlantic.
